Martin Wilson set out on a short, familiar 1-km bike ride to collect his daughter after finishing work. Minutes later, he was lying unconscious in the road outside his own home.

Riding slowly on a residential street, Martin struck a small pothole and lost control, crashing into a parked car. He suffered facial fractures, spinal injuries, brain bleeds, and months of recovery.

This is Martin’s story, and a reminder that potholes are not a minor inconvenience. For people who cycle, it can be life-changing.
