Hello friends - back in 1993 when the legendary SoundBlaster 2 was on the marked, there was a games studio in Austria in the city of Schladming called Max Design - which became famous later on with the Anno PC games series. But also in their earlyer days they developed great games like Burntime for the Amiga as well as the PC. Burntime is a post-apokalyptic strategy RPG. The unique set is kind of Mad Max / Fallout style. It is a desert world with ruined cities, caves and desert camps/settlements with strange residents you can interact with. But an essential part of the game is it's atmospheric music, composed by Hannes Seifert.
I mean, look at the eerie scene when you enter the doctors home, a guy with bloody Body-parts in his hand, asking him to heal you, his answer is: "I wouldn't even kill you for nothing" , and then the music. Awesome! There are also mutants and dogs wandering around, given the game it's post-apokalyptic athmosphere.
Hannes Seifert composed the music for other Games like Whales Voyage ( youtu.be/vw2ekbtM178 )or The Clou!. He is a true master in treating the good old OPL2 synthesizer chip well and he definitely got the best out of it. He developed his own tracker, and as many of the early games were developed for the Amiga as well, he worked with Clemens Helbock on porting the music from one system to the other.
So this is what happened when skilled artists/musicians/programmers met at the right time at the right place under the right circumstances, though. These were the days!
Hope you like it - You're welcome to use the comment section down below.
Which is my favorite tune? Hard to say as they're all great. The Church's Theme has great organ, the melodie of the ruined city theme is wonderful and I wish the intro tune would not be stop so soon.
