this soundcard was in that box of cards I got last year. I tested it, and I was very pleased by its sound quality. Albeit the card looks cheap and dusty, it outputs a great S/N ratio and low noise level. But as the OPTi 931 uses OPTis own OPL2/3 implementation called OPTi-FM, of course we have a different result than we know to have on cards using the genuine Yamaha OPL2/3 FM.
OPTi-based soundcards are one of the cheapest ISA-cards you can get today. So you might try it if you get one, it might be better than you expect!
For the demonstration I choose music from the DOS-Game KGB as it is composed by Stéphane Picq who left us recently (RIP), and I want to honour his work. KGB was released in 1992, developed by Cryo Interactive and pulished by Virgin and Ocean.
