India has cracked down on political satire. Trump is going after late-night comedians. Free speech can be throttled. We may think it can't happen here — but it can.

The Far Right has a diabolical program that has not just authoritarian but, I would say, even totalitarian ambitions. They seek control of the media and our information systems as a means of imposing, eventually, a regime of mind control. We may think it can't happen here, but it can. India has moved aggressively against political satire, and Trump's ongoing attacks on late-night comedians and the press are a sign of what's coming if we don't stop this juggernaut.

Do we want to be North Korea eventually?
