Israel says it's preparing a military retaliation for a missile strike launched against it last week by Iran. Israel's armed forces have until now mostly concentrated their fire on Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon — both militias are controlled by Iran. An offensive against Iran itself would mark a significant escalation of the conflict in the region.
