Thanks to Freewell for sending over their new magnetic variable ND filter system looked pretty innovative and I was interested to give it a try.

The Magnetic VND filter package is an all in one filter system that covers Variable Neutral Density, Circular Polariser and ‘Mist’ diffusion. There are lots of filter products on the market but this seems pretty unique in that it provides you with a solution for various filtration types, boasting 7 features and 20 different functions, plus its magnetic too.
Personally I’ve always struggled with screw on ND filters. They can be fiddly and cumbersome, not to mention suffer with issues such as vignetting, colour shifts, and of course the dreaded X pattern.
So how does this one stack up and is it something I will be making use of? Is this the best option out there for those that like to use screw on VND? In this video I provide my thoughts and provide some test footage.
