Is this the lens that SI's Heinz Kleutmier shot the famous, "Miracle On Ice" Picture with in 1980?
During the height of the cold war in 1980, at the Winter Olympics, Sports Illustrated's Heinz Kleutmier made one of hockey's most famous photographs. I recently stumbled onto this Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 EDIF lens that came from his massive collection of photography gear that he amassed throughout his lifetime and bought it from Cardinal Camera in Philadelphia. the date range is correct according to Nikon's serial number run. This lens was made between 1978 and 1981. I think there is a better than average chance that this was the lens that he made the photo with but there is no way to verify this. Worst case scenario, I figure there is a one and two or mabye one in three chance this is it...
