For decades, Britain was seen as a model of political stability with leaders like Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair and David Cameron dominating Downing Street for years at a time.
Today, that image is under growing strain. In the last decade alone, Britain has seen six Prime Ministers pass through Number 10.
Labour’s Keir Starmer promised stability after 14 years of Conservative rule, but less than two years later, he is facing the fight of his political life if he’s to stay in 10 Downing Street.
Following disastrous local and regional election results, more than 100 Labour MPs are reportedly urging Starmer to step aside.
Wes Streeting, Andy Burnham and Angela Rayner are all being discussed as potential challengers.
So is this simply a turbulent political era or does the rapid turnover of leaders point to a deeper problem with the UK’s political system itself?
