Finland has been Scandinavia’s weakest economy in recent years weighed down by high unemployment, a housing downturn and rising public debt. Could it now be emerging from decades of stagnation?
Finland's economic growth has been sluggish over the past two decades with real GDP still not fully recovering from the 2008 financial crisis and further setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic and war in Ukraine.
However, with early signs of recovery emerging, the expansion of its defence industry and AI could provide a path to stronger economic growth.
