Is the gospel hidden to those who have not been chosen to believe?
It may seem that way when we read these verses:
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)
Paul is using the veil as an illustration of keeping the true glory of something from being understood, such as the veil hiding the face of Moses when he came down the mountain with the Ten Commandments.
The Devil (the god of this world) puts such a veil between unbelievers and the gospel. They do not completely grasp its significance. How is this remedied?
Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. (2 Corinthians 3:16)
They turn to the Lord.
Because the veil is on their minds, they have to engage their minds to study the truth so the veil can be lifted.
