Is PlayStation Portal worth it in 2025? Does it work in Starbucks, or over 5G? The PlayStation Portal now works as a standalone gaming system with PS Plus cloud gaming: all you need is a 13Mbps wifi connection and you can play all of your favourite PS5 games on the move, including a growing selection of third party games from your library.
The Portal's reputation as a decent second-screen peripheral for when your TV is occupied is well established, but with cloud gaming, can it now be considered a full PlayStation system in its own right? And does it really work away from your fat-pipe broadband at home? Is the Portal now more or less the cheap and cheerful PS5-based handheld of our dreams?
