Today we take a look at a true crime case out of New Mexico.
Police are dispatched to a tiny home on a property when a 911 call comes in regarding a child who is unresponsive...
That child is 5 year old Xaqueline Bynum.
Little Xaqueline was rushed to the hospital with unknown injuries... She would not survive.
Her parents, 38 year old Matthew Bynum and 34 year old Music Adame would be taken in for questioning...
Matthew did not speak with detectives, but Music did... Here is her interrogation. (SPOILERS BELOW)
Music Adame is facing first-degree felony of intentional abuse of a child resulting in death, the second-degree felony of subsequent abuse of a child, and the third-degree felony of child abuse.
She had an arraignment hearing on March 31, 2025... We will update here when we have that information.
Matthew Bynum is facing first-degree felony of intentional abuse of a child resulting in death and the second-degree felony of subsequent abuse of a child.
The 7-year-old boy was taken into the custody of CYFD (Children, Youth & Families Department), which had received callouts to the property in response to the concerning state of the children prior to this incident.
According to CYFD documents provided by the sheriff’s department, the majority of callouts resulted in failure to make contact with the parents or a lack of responsiveness from the parents.
In August 2023, during a traffic stop, police reported to CYFD that the children were extremely dirty and had not showered in a while, noting that the kids were not in car seats.
In November 2023, another report was filed because the property did not have a working toilet or running water and because the kids were constantly truant from school.
In January, a school employee reported to CYFD that they had physical and emotional abuse concerns for the 7-year-old.
Both Matthew Bynum and Music Adame are awaiting their day in court. We will keep you up to date right here on Couch Detectives!
