Using the newly launched Freedom MCX W72 boards, NXP showcases how to achieve centimeter-level accuracy for range finding using pure Bluetooth, without the need for additional sensors like ultrasonics. We discuss why this time-of-flight method is a massive improvement over older RSSI technology (which is easily affected by walls and reflections), and explore exciting use cases like asset tracking, smart home automation, and secure access control.
