Jason Erdreich (Makera Education Director) demos the original Carvera and the new, currently-crowdfunding Carvera Air and explains the difference between the two models. Carvera Air is a more affordable version of the CNC subtractive manufacturing platform, designed for educators or independent makers creating their own prototypes and one-off projects at home. While it doesn't guarantee the same precision, and you'll have to switch out your own tools (using the nifty one-handed lever), you still get a powerful open-source platform and a supportive community.
