Something that often comes up when talking about certain old school shmups (and other types of games) is Gradius Syndrome, a phenomenon that makes it very hard to recover after dying. It's not just the Gradius series that suffers from this but also the early R-Type and Raiden games. In this video, I give my honest take on Gradius Syndrome and why it may not be a game-killer, depending on the game of course.

One small note: there were some issues with the original commentary that I recorded. I did my best to edit the issues (a lot of noise had to be removed, which affected my voice in this video more than usual), but there's still one part for sure that didn't come out right. I put it one correction in text right after the four minute mark as a result.
