Battlefield 6 was the best selling game of 2025, all studios that worked on it were hit with layoffs.
Fortnite generated $6 billion in revenue in 2025, over 1,000 employees were just laid off.
Even at the peak of success, AAA gaming is somehow collapsing rn
The 9th generation might deadass be the worst console generation since the 80’s
Is gaming getting too expensive? Maybe in a few years:
- Switch 2 will probably go up in price
- PS6 $1000
- Next Xbox: $1200
- Mid tier PC: $3000
Verdict’s still out on the Switch 2 (tho it def has problems) but the PS5 & Series X have underwhelmed at best and outright faceplanted at worst Sony doesn't want to raise prices, neither does Xbox or Nintendo. They know what this will do.
They're reacting to a volatile market that hasn't really ever stabilized after 2020.
Look at all of the global disruption that AI has caused combined with ongoing geo-political chaos.

The situation in the whole world is affecting gaming, everything is going up, steam isnt selling steam decks and delayed console, xbox raised prices, playstation raised prices, ram and dram issues, transportation issues, cpu issues, is getting worse and no signs of slowing down
