Is everybody teaching the antiderivative of 1/x incorrectly? The issue raised here is regarding the arbitrary constants across disocnnected intervals in the domain of ln|x|. Usually the antiderivative of 1/x is written ln|x|+c, that's one single arbitrary constant. But is this technically correct? Is this the whole story? We dive into this discussion and the relevant calculus in this video, and take a peek inside my first edition of Stewart's calculus. #calculus #mathematics
