After spending one month in Auckland, I've started noticing some interesting patterns about everyday life here. These are just my personal observations from using the city and exploring different areas.
Some of the things I've noticed:
I mainly rely on public transport, and many bus stops are around 10–20 minutes' walk from the place you're actually going.
After about 8:00 PM, there seem to be far fewer people using the buses.
Many cafés close quite early, often around 2:30 PM or 3:30 PM.
Most shopping malls close by 6:00 PM, except on a couple of late-shopping days.
Happy hour at many bars is typically between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
At the two gyms I attend, around 75% of the members I've seen appear to be aged 60 and above.
I've also noticed there are plenty of family-focused activities and programs around the city.
Based on these first impressions, I share my opinion on which demographic Auckland seems to suit best. Of course, this is only my experience after one month, and others may have different perspectives depending on where they live and their lifestyle.
