Puzzles, cats, and puppets, oh my! Iris.Fall is the perfect little scary video detour for October: short, sweet, eerie, and strange enough to keep my theory brain fully employed. I wanted to bring yall this 2018 indie puzzle adventure after it was recommended to me and I'm so glad it finally landed on my radar. We play as Iris, a girl pulled down the rabbit hole by a black cat into a dreamlike world of light, shadows, books, gears, dolls, buttons, and puppet-stage nightmares. The puzzles slowly teach us to treat darkness as part of the solution, shifting through shadows, shaping paths with light, and following the cat deeper into a story that feels open to so many interpretations. Is this about grief, identity, creation, self-discovery, cutting your own strings, or all of the above? I'm still not fully sure but that's exactly why it stuck with me.
