IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, has been an offered therapy by dermatologists for years. After treating ocular rosacea, people starting having improvement with dry eye symptoms. IPL was studies and showed it could help with meibomian gland dysfunction. This works by doing photocoagulation, heating oil glands, and eradicating microorganisms. Currently IPL by Lumenis is IPL approved for dry eye, with other IPL machines IPL cleared. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy for dry eyes is considered one of the top dry eye treatments available today.
