Increased Risk of Sudden Vision Loss (NAION) with Certain Medications
This study found a significant association between taking certain medications and developing a type of eye stroke called NAION (non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy). Patients with diabetes were 4 times more likely and those with obesity were over 7 times more likely to develop this condition, which can cause sudden, painless vision loss, often affecting the bottom half of the visual field.
