1. Introduction to Joint HierarchiesIn Simple Words: Think of a joint hierarchy exactly like a family tree. It uses a Parent-Child relationship. When the Parent moves, the Child moves with it automatically. But if the Child moves, the Parent stays perfectly still.Example: Your shoulder is the parent of your elbow, which is the parent of your wrist. If you swing your shoulder, your whole arm moves. If you rotate just your wrist, your shoulder doesn't budge.Where in Maya 2023: You can view this visual hierarchy in the Outliner (Windows Outliner). Joints are represented by an icon of two small circles linked together.2. If you're rigging a tiny finger, the joints might overlap into a massive giant ball.
