The IGFA travels around Florida to show the diverse angling habitats where one can fly fish. Basic fly fishing instruction occurs at Plantation Heritage Park where the IGFA attempts to catch freshwater fish on fly.
Virtual Field Trip Duration: 25-26 minutes
Aquatic Habitat: Freshwater Lake
Follow along with Miss Lisa, Miss Jojo, and IGFA Volunteers as we learn how to:
• Cast a fly rod
• Shoot the line
• Move the fly in the water
• Set the hook
• Fight the fish by stripping in the line or reeling in the line
• Understand what nets to use and how to use a net
• Practice safety
To learn how to:
• Set up a fly rod
• Tie the Arbor Knot, Albright Knot, Perfection Loop, and do a Loop to Loop Connection
• Create a tapered leader
• Tie a Clouser Minnow
