For 2021 I'm going to be running a EWWI worm bin.
EWWI stands for Everything Wrong With It.
I have two aims with this experiment. To test out some of the things we hear all the time about worms - you must add grit, you can't add onions or acidic scraps, you have to keep the temperature at certain degrees, you must insulate your bin if it's outside etc but perhaps more importantly, I want to use this series to reassure those new to composting with worms or considering it, that worms are tough and they can handle just about everything we and nature throws at them.
I'm not going to be adding grit, the worm bin is outdoors in a lean-to with no insulation, and I'll be adding acidic material and checking the ph of the bedding regularly. We'll look closely each month at how the worms are doing and how healthy the bin is.
Join me on this little journey of investigation, discovery and reassurance.
