The United States and its allies have urged a ceasefire to facilitate negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel launched airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut and southern Lebanon — which Lebanese health officials say have killed hundreds in less than two weeks — while Hezbollah rocket fire triggered alarms in northern Israel.
