Geoffrey Hinton, the British Canadian computer scientist at the University of Toronto, and John Hopfield, of Princeton University, have won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning within artificial neural networks. Hinton says AI continues to develop very rapidly, and 'we should be working hard now on how to make sure it doesn't take control away from people.'
