This year’s iteration of Pops By Nguyen features a selection of popular tunes from around the world (or, more honestly, a handful of countries whose music is familiar to the arranger). We open with a tribute to the recently passed David Bowie, mixed with elements from the Interstellar soundtrack for a double dose of outer space. The next selections include timeless classics by two great Canadian artists (not Alanis Morissette or Rush), a cheerful hit by Swedish group ABBA, some K-pop by SNSD, the OG corny Chinese pop song Tong Hua, Spanish/Portuguese club banger Danza Kuduro, and your favorite recent Adele song. We close out with a rendition of the legendary La Vie en Rose by France’s greatest chanteuse, Edith Piaf. Enjoy, and don’t cry too much kbye.
