Metabolic Mind | Insulin and Metabolism in Depression - Natalie Rasgon, MD, PhD @metabolicmind | Uploaded November 2022 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
Your metabolic health may have a direct effect on symptoms of depression. Metabolic dysfunction is emerging as a key underlying mechanism of major depressive disorder. Metabolic approaches have the potential to transform outcomes for the mentally ill. Psychiatric patients should be tested for insulin resistance and other markers of metabolic dysfunction.

Dr. Natalie Ragson is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at Stanford University School of Medicine. In her talk, she explores the metabolic manifestations of depression and how this impacts what we know about mental illness.
