Watch as the HandyPress® uses the DOT® Setting Die For Rolled Rim & Spur Grommets. This die set is meant to be a dual functioning, meaning you can load the female grommet on the lower die and punch a hole in your fabric assembly then set the grommet in the next step. This is a guillotine style hole cutter which works well with most light to medium weight fabric assemblies. If excessive force is required to punch the hole then do not use it for punching the hole, but rather switch to a regular hole cutter, then set the grommet with the die set. Set the desired compression on the HandyPress by raising or lowering the upper shaft. Once it is set to your preference no further adjustments are required. Using the HandyPress, combined with these dies, it will consistently punch a hole and set the grommet in your fabric assembly with a simple and easy pull of the hand lever. We call that process the "Sweet Spot" compression, similar to how a set of Vice-Grips™ work.
NOTE: Sailrite® has recently been working with DOT® to modify the dies to work without binding up. This is the first working prototype die that works great and does not bind when used in a hand press!
