Not all upgrades work out as we'd like them to... While parting out my Toshiba Satellite 2415 it had a DVD/CD-RW combo drive made by TEAC I thought of putting in my slimline IBM NetVista desktop. It only had a 24x speed CD-ROM (which is also made by TEAC; in fact it's just the CD-ROM model of the same drive).
Installation was pretty easy... except for discovering later the drive wasn't being seen by the computer. Back to the drawing board...
