Laith is a 17-year-old orphan from Mosul, who raps about his experiences and his hope for the future. His mother died some time ago and his father was killed in front of his eyes when he was about 6 years old. After Mosul became more dangerous, with more and more civilians targeted by terrorists, he began the trip to try and reach Europe. But when the boat capsized in Turkish waters, the police took him back to Iraq, where he was jailed, interrogated and beaten. He now lives with his grandmother in the Harsham IDP camp in Erbil, Iraq. He helps out at the Unicef child-friendly space and finds hope in his rapping.
