Cooling towers, like most power generation assets, require periodic inspections in order to determine the structural conditions of the asset and determine the life span of the fill supports. This inspection can be very difficult and time-consuming to perform through traditional methods like man lifts, so some power plants swapped to cooling tower drone inspections with the Elios 3. Thanks to its 4K camera and collision-tolerant cage, the Elios 3 is able to get close to each support, allowing the inspector to determine the condition and integrity of the structure.
Now, cooling tower drone inspections are making it easier and safer to gather critical data. When the inspectors fly drones in cooling towers, they can reach high points as well as supporting structures without scaffolding or confined space entry.
