NASA uses satellites, ground measurements, and powerful computer models to track tiny particles floating in our air called aerosols. These small particles can travel thousands of miles, affecting the air we breathe and how far we can see, even far from where they originated. This visualization shows how these particles moved through Earth's atmosphere from August 1-September 14, 2024.

![Studying Dark Energy With NASAs Roman Space Telescope
Scientists have discovered that a mysterious pressure dubbed “dark energy” makes up about 68% of the total energy content of the cosmos.
Exploring the nature of dark energy is one of the primary reasons NASA built the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, whose measurements will help illuminate the dark energy puzzle.
What exactly is dark energy? More is unknown than known, but theorists are chasing down a couple of possible explanations. Discovering how dark energy has affected the universe’s expansion in the past will shed some light on how it will influence the expansion in the future. One theory suggests dark energy would eventually become dominant over the fundamental forces, causing everything that is currently bound together — galaxies, planets, people — to break apart.
Exploring dark energy will allow us to investigate, and possibly even foresee, the universe’s fate.

![NASAs Illuminate: An EPIC Eclipse View
An EPIC eclipse view, indeed! 🌎🔭
One year ago today, NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera, or EPIC, captured this footage of the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse. From its vantage point on the DSCOVR satellite roughly 1 million miles away from Earth, EPIC reveals the impressive scale of the Moon’s shadow: It stretched 115 miles across and raced across the U.S. at over 2,000 miles an hour.
NASA’s Illuminate: Out-of-this-world images shining light on our Sun and solar system.
