RISE up, space crafters! 🪡
Everyone's favorite Artemis II Moon Mascot transformed from idea to material right here at NASA Goddard. Rise was fabricated by Paula Cain, a literal designer for the stars.
Paula usually spends her time making thermal blankets to keep spacecraft like the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope at just the right temperature for science, so Rise was a special assignment. She took us behind the seams to see the loving detail in every stitch – including his special pocket, which holds millions of names traveling along with the Artemis II crew.

![Studying Dark Energy With NASAs Roman Space Telescope
Scientists have discovered that a mysterious pressure dubbed “dark energy” makes up about 68% of the total energy content of the cosmos.
Exploring the nature of dark energy is one of the primary reasons NASA built the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, whose measurements will help illuminate the dark energy puzzle.
What exactly is dark energy? More is unknown than known, but theorists are chasing down a couple of possible explanations. Discovering how dark energy has affected the universe’s expansion in the past will shed some light on how it will influence the expansion in the future. One theory suggests dark energy would eventually become dominant over the fundamental forces, causing everything that is currently bound together — galaxies, planets, people — to break apart.
Exploring dark energy will allow us to investigate, and possibly even foresee, the universe’s fate.

![NASAs Illuminate: An EPIC Eclipse View
An EPIC eclipse view, indeed! 🌎🔭
One year ago today, NASA’s Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera, or EPIC, captured this footage of the April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse. From its vantage point on the DSCOVR satellite roughly 1 million miles away from Earth, EPIC reveals the impressive scale of the Moon’s shadow: It stretched 115 miles across and raced across the U.S. at over 2,000 miles an hour.
NASA’s Illuminate: Out-of-this-world images shining light on our Sun and solar system.
