(KUTV) It's the first-ever cross country road trip for a man who has been practically homebound his entire life. And it's happening thanks to a brother who bought a small school bus.
Jesse Degnitz was born with spina bifida and is confined to a wheelchair. But since he suffered a major stroke in March, 2015, he has also been stuck at his home in Sandy.
"Jesse needs me," said his mother, Donna Degnitz. "I'm his whole life."
His grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins all live in Wisconsin. But he was raised here in Utah because he had to be close to Primary Children's Hospital.
But soon, he is going on a road trip -- thanks to his older brother, who lives in Maryland. His brother bought a small bus and renovated it, making it very convenient for Jesse to stay in his chair and travel.
