Provincetown has long been a refuge for queer people. But in recent years, rising housing and living costs have made it increasingly inaccessible to the LGBTQ+ youth who need that safety and sense of belonging the most.
So in 2017, Kristen Becker founded the nonprofit Summer of Sass to provide LGBTQI young people (ages 18–20) with paid work, subsidized housing, and community for a summer air Provincetown.
Kristen talks with Sarah Gabrielli on Cruising (http://www.cruisingpod.com) about how the program began, why affordability is inseparable from safety, and what it takes to create stability for queer youth in a place like Ptown.
