The C-5 Galaxy is the US military’s biggest aircraft, so big that each one can carry two Abrams tanks across the world if need be. If you stood in front of it, you’d probably feel like an ant, but it can kneel to meet you on your level! It has an ingenious design in other ways, too. The Galaxy can be loaded from two sides, has engines whose power dwarfs anything else in America’s air fleet, and boasts a remarkably stable T-tail design that overcomes traditional deep stall dangers. It was once a troubled program, and is enormously expensive, but thanks to its good attributes, it will stay in the skies until at least the 2040s.
