Welcome to the Pittsburgh Gaming Expo 2025 (PGX 2025) — one of the most amazing retro gaming conventions in the U.S.! I got to hang out with some incredible creators, meet Brian F. Colin, the legendary designer of Rampage, and even film a short skit with Mark Bussler of Classic Game Room!
This year’s PGX had it all — a massive arcade, incredible panels, tons of rare retro games for sale, and some wild moments, including Neo Ness contemplating a $5,000 graded Halo: Combat Evolved “Not for Sale” edition. Meanwhile, I found one of my own holy grails — the Raiders of the Lost Ark LaserDisc I’ve been hunting for forever!
I also caught up with friends and creators like Gamer Ahmer, Stephen Heywood (Tech Buzz Gaming), GameDad, Jay Malone (Square Pegs), Video Game Votary, The Immortal John Hancock, John Riggs, Paul E. Niemeyer, and Paul Hubans, who I interviewed about his new game Madhouse — complete with gameplay footage!
If you love retro gaming, collecting, conventions, and crazy moments with the community, you’ll feel right at home here.

![Ataris Adventure SUCKS — And Nostalgia Is Why You Wont Admit It
Ataris Adventure for the 2600 is considered one of the most influential video games ever made — but is it actually good? Doctor Scott makes the case that it isnt, tracing the same nostalgia bias that props up classics like Pac-Man, Centipede, and Superman on the Atari 2600, and argues that overlooked titles like Haunted House and Frankensteins Monster did everything Adventure tried to do, and did it better.
You loved it when you were nine. But did you ever stop to ask yourself why?
Doctor Scott makes the case that Ataris Adventure — one of the most celebrated games in the history of the 2600 — is not a good game. It was not a good game when it came out. It is not a good game now. And hes not just going to say it. Hes going to prove it.
From the bat with no rules to a hero who is literally a square, from the first known video game easter egg hidden in a bad game to Ataris own business decisions convicting them on the stand — this is the full prosecution. The evidence is in. The verdict is yours.

![10 Game Franchises That Need To Be Saved!
Half-Life. Burnout. Splinter Cell. TimeSplitters. Rainbow Six Vegas. Battlefield: Bad Company. Mercenaries. Resistance: Fall of Man. Midnight Club. Bulletstorm. These 10 franchises sold millions of copies, built loyal fanbases, and then publishers buried them anyway. [NEW — crawlable text naming the full roster]
Not because the games were bad. Not because players stopped showing up. Because somebody in a suit decided the math worked better elsewhere.
So the question is simple: will any of them ever come back? Doctor Scott straps 10 of gamings most-wanted dead franchises to the lab table and makes the case for which ones deserve to be brought back from the dead — and which ones the industry should be ashamed it let die.
Tell me in the comments which franchise you want resurrected the most. The one you actually played, loved, and never stopped waiting for.
