We traveled deep into Pakistan’s mountains, near the Afghan border, to visit one of the country’s most remote and conservative valleys. We set out to meet the Nuristanis, the people of Pakistan’s last village, and to document what we saw. What we found felt like a world apart — cut off from modern technology, foreign influence, and even the war that raged around it for two decades.
