Cheraw, South Carolina is a quintessential Southern town that once was called "the prettiest town of Dixie." In recent years, however, it's struggled economically, with the disappearance of its textile industry and decline of its timber industry. Today it stands at the edge of a robotic transformation, with its largest factory employing humanoid robots instead of humans. We visited Cheraw to understand how it's changed, and why robots are now in town.
