When the path of roadway construction intersects with a tiny cave-dwelling animal, highway mitigation takes a new turn. This innovative approach not only saves taxpayer dollars but also decreases flooding and replenishes drinking water. What's more, this fresh approach preserves cave habitat and the home of those federal endangered cave species holding clues to the condition of drinking water.

Special thanks for the video footage contribution from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, and for photos of those tiny cave-dwelling animals provided by Zara Environmental LLC.
