Stateless Code | Inkscape 02: Change Text of an Existing SVG and Save As a New File @StatelessCode | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 58 minutes ago.
This is the 2nd video in the Enough Inkscape to Be Dangerous series. In this video Mike changes the tagline on a wallpaper and re-exports the file.
Note: The font in this SVG is not the right font, and this had to be re-worked in episode 3. Episode 4 will cover converting text to objects on the path so that the output SVGs will not be dependent upon the fonts installed on the viewing system.
This video covers:
00:00:12 Introduction and open the file
00:00:48 Select the correct layer and modify the desired text content.
00:02:05 Align the text using the Align and Distribute menu option
00:04:24 Use Save As to save as a new file
00:05:42 Attempt to export to PNG format from Inkscape. Didn't get intended result
00:07:50 Retry the export by de-selecting the logo and using Drawing as the export area
