All Things 3D | "Ingenuity in VR" Test Flight #2 @allthings3d | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 7 hours ago
Latest test video of "Ingenuity in VR" using Unreal Engine 's 4.27 GPU based lens distortion plugin to create a better depiction of what it will be like "to be" #ingenuity as you traverse in FPV mode across rocks and sand dunes of the Mar's Jezero Crater dry lake bed (even buzz Percy just for the hell of it) available sometime at the end of Q1 2022 on Ingenuity's 1st anniversary of flight.
Goals of your mission:
- Observe from either NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover Mastcam-Z or as the #MarsHelicopter #RTE "eye", for each of Ingenuity's flights.
- Program your own flight pattern and observe from either Perseverance or Ingenuity.
- "Free Mode" allows you to fly Ingenuity like a drone with its computer assisted flight mode. Be careful and don't let your battery die. Even at 10m you won't stand a chance as you hit the Mars surface like a rock.
- Or just stroll along taking pictures & samples as the Perseverance Rover.
Using actual images from Perseverance & Ingenuity to create photogrammetry based 3D meshes of several terrain areas will closely match those actually surveyed, as well as areas not yet explored based on the orbiting #HIRISE camera system. Along with accurate color grading based color targets that NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory uses to calibrate its own images taken by Perseverance, as well audio produced in a physically accurate model of low density atmosphere of Mars.
