Are you unhappy with hot and dirty working environment, troubled by precarious job status at contractor or subcontractor companies?
Are you worried when your employer forces you to handle unknown chemical liquid without gloves? Which could endanger your lives safety and health?

You may ask, what is a trade union?
Trade union is the only worker organization that can represent workers to bargain with employer over wages, benefits, working conditions, safety and health matters.
Trade union is recognized by both domestic laws and international labour standards.
You could have the next question, is trade union effective in helping workers?
In fact, we are already enjoying the fruit of struggle of trade union movement.
We are working 8-hour today because trade union fought for it.
In mid-19th century, the Australian labour movement was among the first to win the 8-hour work.
In 1919, eight hour-work became international labour standard.
More than hundred years ago, German Chancellor Otto von Bismarck introduced the first modern social security system due to strong pressure from the working class movement.
Many studies show that in comparison with non-unionized workers, unionized workers enjoyed higher wages and better benefits.
These can be achieved through negotiation and signing of collective agreement with employer.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, many trade unions have successfully defended workers’ right by keeping their jobs, negotiating with employers for special allowance for essential workers, and monitor safety and health protocol. Trade unions save workers’ lives.
When an employer is unreasonable and stubborn, trade union has no choice but mobilize workers for collective actions, either use picket or strike to fight for better benefits or unfair dismissal.
