Zeke interviews Joe Bryan, who is the Director of the Latin American and Latinx Studies Center and an Associate Professor of Geography with a specialty in Indigenous Politics in the Americas, Human Rights, and Critical Cartography at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Joe Bryan is also Zeke's brother-in-law. They spoke in 2023, when large drought-driven wildfires were burning across vast acreages of industrial timberlands.
They talked about the history of plantation forestry in Chile, and about how forestry there is intertwined with politics and land disputes. It'll give you some background and help inform you about the large fires that keep happening in the country of Chile.
