National Indigenous People's Day is celebrated on the Summer Solstice. In Calgary, Alberta, Canada at the Olympic Plaza, in front of the Arts Common, a "Mini Pow Wow" was presented. There were stories for each of the dances. The "Grass dance" was a traditional way that the people prepared a camping spot for the tribe to settle on for a time. The Jingle dance is a healing dance. The Women's Fancy dance which was born out of Women's desire to compete with the Men's fancy dance and finally a heartwarming Intertribal dance where audience members were invited to join the dance in a spirit of togetherness.
