The Buffalo are sacred to the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) people, who hunted the Buffalo for thousands of years in a vast territory stretching from the North Saskatchewan River in the north of Southern Alberta, Canada to deep into Montana, U.S. The famous Head-Smashed-In World Heritage Site preserves the history of this important time in a museum near Fort MacLeod. Rob shows me this smaller, more intimate Buffalo Jump near Cayley, Alberta in the ancient Whaleback montane region of the Porcupine Hills.
