This week, or rather the week before last week, these things can take a bit of time to put together, especially when I have to actually read the publications that Ian is mischaracterising and twisting and then do the research to make sure I understand it correctly, Indiana Juby tells us all about a recent paper that was published about why people accept valid scientific theory

Of course he gets it all ass backwards and trumpets that it is proof that evolution is false because belief in it is just a matter of belief and not the mountains of scientific evidence and its spectacular predictive qualities.

This then leads him on to talk about climate change and the National centre for science education bemoaning how they spend a fortune each year working to keep creationism out of the classroom. He then deceptively claims that evolution and climate change science is propped up because of the various legal battles that go on to prevent them being supplanted by mystic mumbo jumbo and denialism.

The whole episode is like watching something out of George Orwell's 1984 where lies are truth and ignorance is knowledge.

You will feel a tang of rage while watching it and that's good because when we stop getting angry when we see people who make a living out of stunting the education of children by telling them that bronze age mythology is true and that modern scientific understanding and the bleeding obvious is wrong because it disagrees with the brain farts of some scribe who lived long ago in a time before they knew how to smelt iron then we might as well switch off anything electric and look forward to the middle ages.

I can never understand how people like Ian can think that mankind is so absolutely special to the point of being the most important species in the universe with the universe being made with mankind in mind, yet at the same time think that mankind's actions can be so inconsequential.

That's like having your cake and eating it

Of course if we are what we eat and the cake is a lie, then it explains a lot about Ian.
