Description: A hike to the Boy Scout tree in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park in Northern California near Crescent City. It is a 5.8 mile out and back kind of hike with a small amount of elevation gain. The Boy Scout tree is over 20 diameter. It is a double tree resembling the two finger boy scout salute. And... NO, Dennis did not actually hit a golf ball or anything else in the park.

A wildfire years ago in Cove Palisades Park revealed a small area of unique balanced rocks similar to what one sees in Utah. The Park service had been aware of the rocks but left them off maps, etc. fearing they would become a target for vandals. Well, the fire exposed the secret! The location is no longer a secret! The rock spires were created by various volcanic eruptions millions of years ago.
