Filling up the glass and draining it - I like to think of that line in a metaphorical sense, as in the expression "Seeing the glass as half full or half empty." Getting his hopes up, just to have them let down again and again...it's very Kanon, at least...

I'll admit, I generally don't care about Kanon that much. But I absolutely loved him in this scene T.T Poor Kanon...
